Core components

Organization search

To display an organisation in the mindmap and insights panel, users can begin by initiating a search via contextual chat. Chat will guide the user by requesting additional information to help accurately identify the organisation.

The system uses the following classification fields to distinguish organisations:

  • Name

  • Country

  • State or territory (where applicable)

  • Type — including Government Departments, Major Statutory Authorities, Government-Owned Corporations, and Tribunals and Commissions

  • Primary activity — the main function or focus of the organisation

There are currently business architectures of over 1,300 government organisations available in the system. Business architecture data for each organisation is derived from its annual report, providing a consistent and reliable foundation for insights and comparisons.

chat

Chat context refers to the business information that informs and enriches your conversations with the Orthogramic contextual chat assistant. When you interact with the chat feature in the Insight panel, the system automatically considers relevant business architecture elements from your organization's data model. This includes information about the specific node you've selected in the mindmap, related capabilities, value streams, strategic objectives, and other interconnected business components.

With proper chat context, you can ask targeted questions like "How does this capability impact our customer experience strategy?" and receive meaningful, organization-specific responses rather than generic answers. The system draws on your actual business architecture data to provide insights that are directly applicable to your organization's unique structure and goals.

You can add multiple node details to the chat context.

How Orthogramic Insights works

Orthogramic Insights enables users to interactively explore the business architecture of an organisation by extracting structured domain data from uploaded documents.

The process begins when a user uploads business-relevant documents such as strategies, policies, or plans. These documents are automatically processed using the Orthogramic Metamodel, which interprets and structures their content across domains such as Capabilities, Strategy, Policy, Stakeholders, and more.

This structured data is presented in Orthogramic Insights as an interactive view, allowing users to navigate the relationships between domain entities, identify coverage gaps, and understand strategic alignment. For further analysis, the domain entities can be downloaded in a JSON format for reuse in other systems or artefacts.

The diagram below illustrates the end-to-end process:
